RSS School Group Experience Opportunities

Horizons Unlimited offers a plethora of engaging, hands-on, cross-curricular learning experiences, kits, and other resources aligned to the NC Standard Course of Study.

Field trips to Horizons Unlimited and walking tours are designed to give students and teachers enriching, hands-on learning opportunities beyond the classroom. Each grade-level specific program is thoughtfully crafted to meet the NCSCOS, and offers developmentally appropriate, experience-based lessons that engage students in meaningful exploration. 

Kits include everything needed to bring engaging experiences directly to your classroom, and deliver meaningful, interactive lessons without all the prep. If you need specific resources to carry out an investigation or lab, please view the Equipment Checkout list in the K-8th Science Program Guide below and contact us for the availability of resources.

All experiences and resources are offered to Rowan-Salisbury Schools at no cost, however, schools will be responsible for transportation to/from experiences, and pick up/return of kits and other resources. Requests are filled on a first come, first served basis, with field trips to Horizons Unlimited being scheduled a semester in advance.

Un-boxed Kits

Horizons Unlimited offers Unboxed Kits—hands-on, science-based experiential learning kits available for rental by Rowan-Salisbury School teachers. Each kit includes everything needed to bring engaging, standards-aligned science experiences directly to your classroom. Designed to support the North Carolina Standard Course of Study.  These kits make it easy to deliver interactive, meaningful science lessons without the prep.

Field Trips at Horizons Unlimited

Our field trip programs are designed to give students and teachers access to enriching, hands-on learning experiences beyond the classroom. Our Core Experiences allow educators to fully customize their visit, tailoring activities to meet specific learning goals. Meanwhile, our grade-level specific Programs are thoughtfully crafted to align with North Carolina’s Standard Course of Study, offering developmentally appropriate, experience-based lessons that engage students in meaningful exploration.
